In order to meet the growing demand for leisure travel between Singapore and Thailand, Jetstar Asia has increased frequency to its Singapore-Bangkok weekly service.
Starting July 8 this year, Jetstar Asia will augment its weekly service to Bangkok from its Singapore hub by 8 flights, bringing its total weekly frequency to 35 from the current 27 flights.
The additional frequency will mean an addition of more than 2,800 seats per week between two of the region's most popular destinations. An average of 5 flights daily will boost traffic between the two popular gateways which are both important markets across Jetstar Asia's regional network.
The growing demand in both leisure and business travel in the region, particularly between Thailand and Singapore, has spurred growing competitions among airline operators in the region bringing down airfares along with improved services.
According to the airline's Chief Executive Officer, Barathan Pasupathi, the additional frequency is part of its expansion effort to serve their captive market while offering them enhanced in-flight service.
He disclosed that they saw a 30% passenger traffic growth in their Singapore-Bangkok route in 2012 alone, carrying a total of over 2 million passengers during the period.
The new flight schedules between the two cities will give more options to their clients in terms of time flexibility and better connections, especially for transit passengers, to destinations beyond.
With the additional frequency, Jetstar Asia will boost its weekly service to 106 flights to Thailand from its hubs in Singapore and Sydney. Aside from Bangkok, the airline also flies to Phuket from its Sydney hub.
The airline offers one-way economy tickets on its Singapore-Bangkok route for as low as S$114 or Bt2,699.
