Indonesia AirAsia to Bandung

25th May 2010

AirAsia Plane

Indonesia AirAsia currently a 2x daily service between Bandung and Kuala Lumpur and 4x weekly between Bandung and Singapore but have threatened to pull out if Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport isn't updated by the end of the year.

AirAsia recently upgraded their aircraft to the Airbus 320 which means the airport's runway needs overlaying to support the 64.5-tonne aircraft.

Widijastoro Nugroho, the Indonesia AirAsia director of marketing and distribution stated recently, "We have been postponing our programme waiting to change our fleet and extend our lease of the Airbus aircraft because of Bandung's airport. If the airport is not improving by November, we have no choice but to pull out Bandung services."
