Emirates is in the mood of expanding its network with the addition of Phuket in Thailand. The once-daily service to Phuket will commence on 10 December 2012.
Phuket, which lies in the Andaman Sea, will be the second Thai destination to be served by the airline. Emirates had been serving the Thai capital, Bangkok, since 1990.
The flight, EK378, will take off at the Dubai International Airport at 1245 hrs and touch down at Phuket International Airport at 2155 hrs. The return flight, EK379, will leave early in the next day at 0035 hrs and will arrive approximately four hours later at 0435 hrs in Dubai. The said flight will be serviced by an Airbus aircraft with three-class seats configuration.
Emirates President, Tim Clark, revealed that the airlines has a strong affiliation with the Southeast Asian country since it started flying to Bangkok in 1990. He told the media that they are anticipating the launch of the their non-stop service to Phuket by December 2012 which is a perfect time for the holiday season.
Clark also admitted that they consider Thailand as an important market in the region with its four-times daily frequency between Dubai and Bangkok. They are confident that Phuket will be an exciting market for the airline as it has been a popular destination for holiday seekers not only from Europe and the Middle East but especially from UAE.
By then, it will be its second expansion this year to Southeast Asia following the inaugural flight to Ho Chi Minh City in June. Overall, Phuket will be the airline's 15th destination as part of its network expansion this year alone.
The tour operator Emirates Holiday, the airline's subsidiary, offers customized holiday packages to many select destinations across the globe including Phuket. These packages usually include a selection of accommodations ranging from 3 to 5-star hotels. In its A World of Choice brochure, it highlights the many attractions of Phuket including its beautiful scenery and white sandy beaches to cultural sites such as the Chalong Temple as well as the old town.
Emirates has been known for its five-star service and top-notch in-flight meals which are prepared by its gourmet chef. It boasts of a multinational assemblage of cabin crew from 120 different nationalities who have been its pride, consistently making the airline a world-class airline for its award-winning in-flight service. The airline also offers an in-flight entertainment system called ice, which has more than 1,400 channels to choose from and its electronic messaging capability.
It has a total fleet of 178 aircraft, 22 of which are double-deck, wide-body Airbus A380, the world's largest by a single operator. The airline has a world-wide network of 125 destinations across five continents in 74 countries.
