An AirAsia pilot decided to temporarily abort takeoff Friday from Phuket International Airport when one of the female passengers tipped a flight attendant about the presence of a bomb in the aircraft.

The female passenger, Phanarat Nopphakhun is a 38-year old teacher from Phuket.

While on board the airline's flight FD3002 she informed a flight attendant that she had kept two bottles of water in her luggage. According to reports, Phanarat made a remark that water too can be a bomb.

The said aircraft was supposed to leave for Bangkok on Friday at 8:40am. It was already taxiing on the airport's runway when the pilot received the info from one of the attendants. The pilot instantly stopped the plane on account of the unconfirmed bomb threat.

The crew began emptying the aircraft of all passengers who were temporarily ushered away from the airport's main terminal.

A bomb disposal team arrived on the scene and conducted a thorough search on all the passengers' luggages including carry-on items.

After an extensive search, the team declared that there are no bombs on the site.

Phanarat explained to the police that baggage inspectors had been very impolite to her that morning and that she made such remarks to get back at these inspectors.

Walter Jurn Leisinger, a 60-year old Swiss was travelling with Phanarat when the incident occurred. Both were brought to the Police Station in Tha Chat Chai for further questioning.

Ms Phanarat was later charged for issuing such threats which had also caused delays on the part of the passengers of flight FD3002. Incidentally, the plane was able to take off for Bangkok at around 10:47am.

If proven guilty of the charges, the school teacher may also be put in jail and ordered to pay fines of up to 200,000 baht.
