Flights between Bangkok and Phuket operated by Thai Airways are still operating as normal for now according to the airline.
Thai's public relations website reported that in order to accommodate the increased number of passenger fleeing the flooding situation, the airline will be increasing their seating capacity for flights flying to Phuket, Krabi and Haad Yai.
Meanwhile, Thursday saw the inaugural flight by Thai Airways of their Bangkok to Brussels direct service. THAI Preseident Piyasvasti was on the flights as well as key members of the Belgium's tourism industry, 20 Miss Belgium beauty pageant contestants and members of the media.
Mr Piyasvasti used the occasion to re-state that the vast majority of Thailand's tourist attractions, including Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, were all unaffected by the flooding.
He continued by announcing that access to all these destinations was still convenient and they could all be easily reached via the fully functional Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
He made reference to the fact that some Asian and European countries are s still warning against travel to Thailand and this had affected passenger numbers.
Mr Piyasvasti said the Thai government must clarify and create understanding among other countries that the flooding situation has improved, and urge the countries to lift these warnings.
