The world's biggest names in commercial aviation business descend to Paris this year for the World Airline Awards 2013.

This year's most prestigious awards went to Emirates, the Gulf's largest airline. The World Airline Awards 2013 were held in Paris as part of the biennial Paris Air Show.

The second and third positions as the world's best airlines went to Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines. The World Airline Awards 2013 were dominated by Asian carriers save for Turkish Airlines and Qantas, who occupied the 9th and 10th position, respectively.

AirAsia, again, copped the most coveted title for this year's edition as the World's Best Low-Cost Airline, its fifth award in as many years.

The budget airline bagged the same award starting in 2009 when Skytrax started the annual survey.

Thai Airways, unfortunately, slipped to 15th position this year, six rungs down from its 9th position last year. The performance of the Thai flag carrier this year was its worst in five years since the annual awards' debut in 2009.

The awards are the benchmark in commercial airline business which recognize the world's best airlines who were rated by passengers from all over the world on an annual survey conducted by Skytrax.
