British Airways will not return to Bangkok until at least next year. Tour operators hoped that the British flag carrier would resume regular flights between Heathrow and Bangkok in time for Thailand's high season, which coincides with the onset of winter in the UK.

BA had planned to resume flights between Heathrow and Suvarnabhumi in November of this year, but has now reconsidered this decision and made no promise to do so.

The airline had planned to begin Heathrow flights in November, at the start of the next winter season, but has since reconsidered this decision.

Because of the largely low-yield tourist traffic and severe price competition from Middle Eastern carriers, including fellow oneworld member Qatar Airways, Bangkok is not at the top of British Airways' list for resuming service.

BA is now offering flights to Bangkok with Qatar Airways with a link through Doha .

BA informed TTG, "We routinely examine our broad global network and have decided to extend the suspension of our Bangkok operation. We are in contact with consumers to apologise, inform them of their consumer rights, and provide them with other choices, such as a refund or rebooking. "

Next month, Thailand will temporarily lose another link to the UK. Scoot, a low-cost airline that began flying Gatwick-Bangkok-Singapore in March, will halt operations on August 21, with plans to resume at the end of October.

This leaves just Thai Airways and EVA Air operating nonstop flights from Heathrow to Bangkok.
