Bangkok Airways Planning New Routes in China and Southeast Asia

Thailand’s Bangkok Airways is making plans to increase service to China and Southeast Asia this year. The carrier is doing this in mainly in order to boost its operating revenue by 10-11 per cent from the last year’s 24.9 billion baht.

Yesterday, Bangkok Airways President Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth said the carrier will open three new routes: Koh Samui-Guangzhou, China; Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son, Vietnam and Bangkok-Danang, Vietnam.

The company will also announced increasing the frequency on several routes in its latest press release:

For 2016, Bangkok Airways will introduce new services which include Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son, Bangkok – Danang (Vietnam), Samui – Guangzhou, and frequency will be added to our popular sectors such as Bangkok – Phnom Penh from 5 to 6 flight per day, Bangkok – Chiang Mai form 7 to 8 flight per day, Chiang Mai – Samui from 1 to 2 flight per day during high-season period and Samui – Singapore to 2 flight per day.

Mr Puttipong said:

We expect to receive six or seven aircraft, including three ATR72-600s and three Airbus A319s, which will increase our fleet to 36 this year and help increase seating capacity by 4-5 per cent.

Plan is to Get More Passengers

The plan here for Bangkok Airways, is to get more passengers by adding more service. The airline is looking to increase its passenger toll by 10-11 per cent from 2015 and 5.1 million passengers it carried last year.

This year, Bangkok Airways expects to carry somewhere between 5.7 million and 5.8 million passengers.

On that note, the airline will add more than 60 pilots this year, 45 of which will come from its own pilot training program. Currently, Bangkok Airways has 328 pilots.

The carrier is also in talks with several airlines from Asia Pacific on becoming its codeshare partners, of which the Thai-based operator right now has 20.

Right now, the load factor is 77 per cent and the load factor for the year to date is between 68 and 70 per cent, said Bangkok Airways president.

Bangkok Airways Celebrates 48th Anniversary with Special Promotions

The airline will also celebrate its 48th birthday by putting 48,000 seats on sale between 15th and 21st March.

Domestic routes will start at 480 baht per fare, while international fares will start at 1,480 baht.

In addition, Bangkok Airways will also offer passengers discount coupons if they buy Thai food products.
