AirAsia Plane

The domestic flight, Thai AirAsia FD3254, left Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport at 11:01AM on its way to Khon Kaen, but had to turn back minutes later following the detection of a problem in the storage compartment area.

The plane, however, was allowed to fly few minutes later after engineers made a thorough inspection of the aircraft and found no serious problems.

Airline officials said that the pilots just wanted to ensure utmost safety to the passengers so they decided to turn back the flight after they noticed something unusual inside the storage compartment. This proved to be false alarm and the flight was allowed to continue its journey.

Also that day, a Thai Airways flight TG916 bound for London was turned back to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport after the piloted cited problem in the aircraft's hydraulic system.

The aircraft, an Airbus A340-600, took off from Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 1:20PM for a long-haul transcontinental journey to London, England with 266 passengers on board.

The plane was vacated and had to stay in the airport for thorough inspection resulting to the transfer of all passengers to a later flight for London at 4:30PM.
