Thai Airways (THAI) is set to become the first commercial airline to fly passengers using only BioFuels.
The flight which is part of the airlines 'Travel Green' initiative, the airlines official plan to reduce their carbon monoxide emissions is set to take off on December 22nd 2011.
The fuel on the flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai (TG104) will use fuel derived from starch to form bio-ethanol and a 'biodiesel'.
Despite the fact that the fuels do not use any fossil fuels, there is criticism about using this form of power source as it increases the demand on the use of farm land and is argued to impact upon food prices.
Air China has also carried out test using BioFuels but as yet has not run a commercial flight with them.
