The aircraft returned shortly after it took off from Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport for the northern city of Khon Kaen.

This latest trouble involving AirAsia plane came after the tragic crash of an AirAsia Indonesia plane in the Karimata Strait off west coast of Borneo. The plane was en route to Singapore from Surabaya carrying a total of 162 people on board including 7 flight crew members. Search and rescue teams though were able to detect debris in the area, but have yet to find a survivor.

Thai AirAsia flight FD3254 was on a cruising altitude on its way to Khon Kaen, a city in northeastern Thailand, when the pilot detected an irregularity in the aircraft's storage area. The pilot decided to return to Bangkok to have the plane thoroughly checked.

The plane was allowed to fly shortly after the team of engineers conducted a thorough inspection, but didn't find any serious problem.

The incident didn't scare the passengers, as they decided to board the same flight on their way to Khon Kaen.

An airline spokesperson disclosed that the cockpit crew decided to make a u-turn back to Bangkok after they heard a strange noise inside the luggage compartment; though, the official didn't give further details as to the cause of the noise.
