Competition in air travel is made even stiffer for its rivals as Thai AirAsia signed a deal with the country's largest convenience store operator, Counter Service Co Ltd, to allow the latter's convenience stores to sell Thai AirAsia tickets.

Counter Service Co Ltd operates the Counter Service outlets across the country and also holds the Thai franchise to operate 7-eleven convenient stores nationwide.

The agreement is the latest service innovation for the budget airline's customers across Thailand enabling them to book their tickets at the nearest Counter Service outlets and 7-eleven stores.

There are currently more than 7,000 7-Eleven stores all over Thailand with half of those are found in metropolitan Bangkok alone. Furthermore, there are 1,000 Counter Service outlets in the country where customers may purchase their Thai AirAsia tickets.

Weeradej Ackapolpanich, Counter Service Assistant Vice-President, admitted that the latest agreement with Thai AirAsia is just a manifestation of their strong relationship as they already forged similar agreement before allowing all Counter Service outlets as payment channel for the airline's online booking system.

The partnership has lead to the formation of another agreement between the two entities, this time, enabling all 7-eleven stores as Thai AirAsia sales outlets. This latest agreement makes Thailand's largest budget airline to have the widest sales network in the country.

Thai AirAsia has launched a sales promo for its loyal customers to celebration this latest service innovation, offering one-way tickets for as low as THB777 from Bangkok to Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, Trang, Phitsanulok and Ubon Ratchathani. There is also a one-way ticket costing THB990, also from Bangkok to the following domestic destinations: Phuket, Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Kaen, Nakhon Phanom, Hat Yai, Chiang Mai, Khon and Surat Thani.

The airline also offers promo tickets to international destinations from its Bangkok hub starting at THB1,111 to Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh and Yangon; THB1,590 to Mandalay, Hanoi, and Siem Reap; THB1,990 to Penang and Singapore; and THB2,290 to Hong Kong, Macau and mainland Chinese cities of Changsha, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Wuhan.

The promo ticket prices, however, are only available at all Counter Service and 7-eleven outlets nationwide and are exclusive of service fees. This promo is good until March 30 only and should be used no later than September 2014.

Thai AirAsia currently flies to 14 domestic and 21 international destinations from its hubs in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. It operates an exclusive fleet of 37 narrow-body medium-range A320 aircraft.
