Thai AirAsia has partnered with the convenience store leader, 7-Eleven allowing customers to book air tickets from any of its outlets nationwide. The partnership has enabled the budget airline to instantly expand its sales network all over the country without having to physically set up its own shops, exploiting 7-Eleven's strategic locations all over the country.

There could be no better way to expand its sales network in a scale as grand as Thai AirAsia has done recently when it announced its partnership with 7-Eleven as its authorized sales agent.

The union, no doubt, is a strategic move by the low-cost carrier as it instantly transforms all 7-Eleven stores all over Thailand into its ticket sales outlets. The international chain has over 7,800 stores in Thailand, half of which are found in Bangkok alone.

7-Eleven immediately accepted ticket bookings and payments in all its outlets nationwide a day after the official announcement of their partnership. Customers, however, are limited to purchase only outbound tickets, both for domestic and international destinations.

The partnership between the airline company and 7-Eleven is the first of its kind in Thailand. It has also enabled the airline to expand its sales network across the country that also includes online platform, call centers, travel agents as well as its own sales offices.

The airline revealed that the bulk or 75% of its ticket sales derive from online bookings. With 7-Eleven as its authorized ticket booking agent, it is hopeful that its customer base will grow significantly as well as increase its sales.

The union also includes the authorization of 1,500 Counter Service Co. (CS) outlets to accept ticket bookings. CS is owned CP All which also holds the franchise of 7-Eleven in Thailand. This makes Thai AirAsia's sales network to expand concurrently with CP All's outlet expansion.

The airline's commercial director, Santisuk Klongchaiya, though, has a modest expectation from its partnership with CP All for its ticket sales but is hopeful that it can contribute significantly.

According to the airline's financial report, its revenue for the last fiscal year stood at THB23.5 billion.
