The partnership between a budget carrier and an amusement park seems to be a perfect combination, as it gets approval from Tourism Authority of Thailand for its co-branding strategy.
Thailand is expected to receive more than 30 million international visitors for 2015. The partnership between Thai Smile and Cartoon Network Amazone is expected to spur international arrivals next year to meet the country's target for the year.
Thai Smile is a wholly-owned subsidiary and hybrid low-cost carrier of Thai Airways International founded in 2012.
Cartoon Network Amazone holds the distinction as the world's first Cartoon Network-themed amusement park located in Bang Saray, Thailand. It is a large waterpark divided into six different zones that feature a wide range of rides suitable for the whole family of all ages. The amusement park is owned and operated by Amazon Falls.
The partnership will allow Thai Smile to have some of its planes' livery painted with Cartoon Network Amazone name and logo. The first aircraft to sport the theme park livery is scheduled to set off by April next year during Songkran, Thailand's New Year, and water festival.
Passengers on board can expect to meet and greet the popular Cartoon Network characters like Finn and Jake, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline of Adventure Time, Power Puff Girls, and Ben 10, among others.
According to Mrs. Somrak Kumputch, the Deputy Governor for Administration of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the collaboration between the two companies will certainly give a big boost to the country's image as a major tourism destination not only for its beaches and temples, but also theme parks for the whole family.
The country has been the top tourist destination in Asia outside China. In 2013, it received a record 26.9 million foreign visitors, mostly from China, Malaysia, Japan, Russia, and South Korea. Other source countries for international tourists to the country include Laos, India, Singapore, Australia, and UK.
The office of Tourism Authority of Thailand has been closely working with stakeholders to promote the country as a world-class tourist destination for the all ages.
