Passengers were frightened by the man's actions but three passengers were quick to act and was able to prevent him from carrying out his plan. After which, he was constrained to stay seated and kept under watch for the rest of the flight.

The passengers who apprehended him were actually from the police force.

In half an hour, the pilot was able to land the plane safely at the Hat Yai International Airport. The passenger named Amnart was escorted by police authorities from Klong Hoi Khong and remained with them for questioning.

Amnart told authorities that he is a mechanic by profession and lives in Phatthalung.

Later, he disclosed that he tried to unlock the exit door as he already wanted to end his life at that instant. He added that he was sleepless for almost a week because he was depressed and frustrated with his lovelife.

However, he stressed that thoughts of attempting to end his life dawned on him only upon boarding the plane.
