Thai-airline PC Air has momentarily halted all flight services to Seoul amidst an ongoing financial case involving stranded passengers at Incheon International Airport.
The airline that captured publicity due to their transgender flight attendants was unable to pay for their single aircraft's fuel and ground service fees last week in Seoul's international airport. This has led to a suspension of their next day's flight which left 400 of their passengers stranded in Korea.
The stranded passengers were able to leave the country through arrangements with the Thailand International Airways as well as flights negotiated by the airline itself.
Consequently, Thailand's transport ministry is at odds with permitting PC Air to have their airline license renewed unless they are able to promise the government that the mishap in Seoul will not happen again.
The airline's first publicity stunt came early this year when it announced that it will hire 'katoeys' - the term for transsexuals in Thailand. This led to the application of more than a hundred 'ladyboys' for flight attendant positions in the carrier. Criteria for judging include the level of femininity in terms of voice and movement.
