On May 15, Nok Air will launch a direct service to Ranong from its hub in Bangkok. Ranong is a border town in Thailand's southwestern province located at the Pak Chan estuary near its border with Myanmar. Its single casino which is located on an island near Victoria Point, Myanmar has become an attraction to high-rollers from different parts of the country and beyond.

The initial daily service will leave Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport at 0625 and will touch down at Ranong Airport at 0800. The once-daily flight will become a twice-daily affair starting October this year.

The budget airline is offering one-way tickets with airport tax already included at a price of Bt1,690 for the inaugural flight. The airline will use the twin-engine turboprop SAAB 340B which seats 34 passengers.

Ranong is known for its numerous hot spas and dense tropical rainforests, owing to its reputation as having the highest rainfall in all of Thailand. It is situated along the coast of Andaman Sea and near the narrowest point of Kra Isthmus which connects Malay Peninsula.

Meanwhile, its direct service from Bangkok to Mae Sot already commenced starting March 1, 2013. From Mae Sot, the airline will extend its reach beyond the border with the launching soon of a direct service connecting Mae Sot to Mawlamyine, Myanmar.

The planned direct service was preceded by a maiden flight on March 31 led by the airline's top executive, Patee Sarasin as well as board director Somchainuek Engtrakul and 20 other key people of Nok Air.

Tickets can be purchased on Nok Air's website or at any 7-Eleven stores across Thailand. Tickets are available at the airline's ticket booth in the airport as well. The airline is not represented by any travel agents for the sale of its tickets.
