During the six-month period, from January to June, foreign arrivals in Thailand went up by 20% compared to the same period last year, or a total of 12.7 million international visitors. The figure earned for the country a revenue of B560 billion, also a 20% increase over the same period in 2012.

By geographical origins, tourists from East Asia made up the bulk of the total number of visitors, accounting for 30%. Visitors from Europe constituted the second biggest group, accounting for 14% of the total international arrivals. Tourists from the Americas and South Asia contributed 6% and 5%, respectively, of the total foreign arrivals.

Officials from the Tourism Authority of Thailand are very positive that they will hit their goal for this year in terms of foreign arrivals visiting the country in the next six months. They project that the number will continue to surge as more flights to Thailand from neighboring countries are expected to increase. The country is expecting to attract 26 million international visitors this year and a projected income of B1.2 trillion for the country.
