Debit Card for Thailand's Foreign Investors Launched

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) where a Miracle Thailand Card is issued by Krungthai Bank for Thailand's foreign visitors. The Miracle Thailand Card is a special debit card which enables foreign travelers to no longer bring a lot of cash during their visits in the country. The debit card doesn't only mean cash but it also has extra values in it like discounts, which can be availed at several tourist spots and shopping malls, including life and medical insurance coverage which can be availed in case of accidents.
Representatives from both TAT and Krungthai Bank were present in the MOU signing ceremony, together with the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) director, as well as other partner organizations.
Suraphon Svetasreni, TAT Governor, said that, 'The Miracle Thailand Card will help ensure visitors who come to Thailand during this auspicious year enjoy greater convenience and have fewer worries while they are here.'
The Miracle Thailand Card can be used by travellers in buying goods or withdrawing cash without any charges from Thailand's ATMs. Leading shopping malls and tourist spots give special discounts every time the Miracle Thailand Card is used in places like The Mall, Siam Paragon, Emporium, Paradise Park, King Power Duty Free, MBK Center, Siam Park, Safari World and Siam Niramit.
An electronic cash card that works just like a debit card, the Miracle Thailand Card can be bought by international travelers at the ATTA counter at Suvarnabhumi Airport or at any Krungthai Bank Currency Exchange booth. A basic card which includes a 7-day personal accident insurance with outpatient treatment worth up to 10,000 baht, inpatient treatment at 500,000 baht and 1 million baht worth of life insurance only costs 100 baht. The Miracle Thailand Card's value can be topped up at any Krungthai Bank Currency Exchange booth anytime, with values amounting up to a maximum amount of 30,000 baht. The period of the insurance coverage included in the card can also be extended at any Krungthai Bank Currency Exchange booth.
