Cebu Pacific Flies to Phuket

The popular island resort of Thailand will soon get connected to the Philippines when Cebu Pacific launches its direct service from Manila to Phuket in August this year.

Phuket is a world-class resort island destination located in southwestern Thailand along the Andaman Sea. It is the largest island in the country which is renowned for its world-class beaches attracting millions of foreign tourist annually.

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific will commence its Manila-Phuket service in August 16 this year utilizing one of its brand-new A320 planes.

Phuket will be the second route for Cebu Pacific to Thailand from the Philippines. Currently, it has direct connections between Manila and Cebu in the Philippines to Bangkok. The Manila-Phuket flight will be the first and only direct service between the two destinations.

The Manila-based low-cost carrier is optimistic that the new route will boost the leisure travel market coming from the Philippines. Thailand has been one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia.

According to the airline official, Phuket will be more accessible to Filipino leisure travelers with the new thrice-weekly direct service from Manila.

Cebu Pacific also flies direct from Manila to the region's holiday destinations such as Siem Reap, Cambodia; Hanoi, Vietnam; Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia and Bali, Indonesia.

The budget airline already serves a combined 16 flights per week to Bangkok from Manila, Cebu and Clark. The thrice-weekly flight will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday leaving Manila at 2000 hrs, landing at Phuket at 2300 hrs. The return flight will leave two hours later, the next day.

The airline held a promotional sale online, with tickets for as low as P999, until May 23, 2013 for travel starting August 16 to October 31, 2013.

Phuket will become the latest addition to the airline's growing route network across the region. Also in the pipeline are Taipei and Dubai which it will launch in July and October, respectively.

Cebu Pacific currently has a fleet of 43 aircraft, most of which are Airbus A320s. It has an outstanding order of 58 more aircraft from Airbus company consisting of A320s, A321neo and A330 which will be delivered through 2021.

The budget carrier has the most extensive route network in the Philippines flying to 33 domestic destinations in addition to 22 overseas destinations in 12 countries across the region.
