Jet Airways and Thailand-based carrier Bangkok Airways have announced that they are entering a mutual codeshare arrangement.
According to the agreement, the Indian carrier will place its marketing code on Bangkok Air's flights on the Mumbai-Bangkok route. Also, the Thailand airline will place its own marketing code on Jet Airways flights in opposing direction, from Bangkok to Mumbai.
Both carriers hope to expand their international network and offer more option for customers between India and Thailand to choose from. These codeshare flights will start operating on 30 April 2015, and will work until 4 May, 2015.
Chief Commercial Officer of Jet Airways Raj Sivakumar said the following about the arrangement:
'Established as the second largest economy in South Asia, Thailand has seen exponential growth in trade and tourism, attracting travelers from across the world including India. These codeshare flights will offer wider and convenient travel options to our esteemed guests traveling between India and Bangkok for business and leisure. This new partnership reinforces our commitment towards developing a robust network across regions.'
Senior Vice President in charge of network management at Bangkok Airways, Peter Wiesner said:
'The codeshare services will allow customers to have better frequency to connect to Bangkok. We believe this partnership will offer a unique advantage for Jet Airways' passengers who will enjoy our unparalleled services which include: free lounge access, in-flight meal and many more. I am confident that this will also strengthen Bangkok Airways' extensive codeshare scheme of 17 codeshare partners including Jet Airways.'
Right now, Jet Airways operates three flights per day between Mumbai, India and Bangkok, Thailand as well as a Delhi-Ho Chi Minh flight, which is connecting via Bangkok once per day.
Bangkok Airways is the 21st airline to enter a codeshare agreement with Jet Airways so far, including both domestic and international ones.
