Bangkok Airways is launching its newest route, as Asia's Boutique Airlines adds another route to Kuala Lumpur. The new route flies from Koh Samui to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
A press release stated that starting this summer, Bangkok Airways' regional service is expanding to reach Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Bangkok Airways now has three international non-stop service gateway via Koh Samui, as the route also has flights to Singapore and Hong Kong.
Bangkok Airways' Koh Samui - Kuala Lumpur flights flies daily on an Airbus 319 jet with a 138 seating capacity. Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Koh Samui can be bought through Bangkok Airways appointed representative or the General Sales Agent (GSA), Global Alliance Travel Services Sdn Bhd (global alliance).
M L Nandhika Varavarn, Bangkok Airways' vice president for Corporate Communications, shared in a statement, "It is our pleasure to announce the start of our flight operations to Kuala Lumpur as we have been eyeing for this market for a few years and we see potentially to feed good passenger flow connecting KLIA, not only KL is a metropolitan city, it also offers diverse Asian cultures which attract international tourists around the world with its tourism tagline 'Malaysia Truly Asia'. By opening this route, it mutually benefits both Malaysia and Thailand to drive more tourism into the countries.'
The Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) Managing Director, Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, welcomed Bangkok Airways saying, 'Malaysia Airports warmly welcomes Bangkok Airways to KLIA, and we are confident that the airline will benefit greatly from the good demand for the Koh Samui-Kuala Lumpur route.'
'Bangkok Airways is the 56th airline to operate at KLIA, and Malaysia Airports is actively collaborating with the government to ensure that we maximise the effectiveness of our marketing programme in continuing to attract new airlines and establish new routes.'
A productive year is being expected for Bangkok Airways this 2012 as it predicts a business expansion of 22.42 per cent with a US$437 million (RM1,311 million) total revenue. This year's expansion strategy included the new Koh Samui - uala Lumpur route. The airline is also expecting to transfer about 3.6 million passengers this year, which is 15 per cent higher than last year's.
Flight frequencies of Bangkok Airways' existing routes will be increased this year as well as it also expands its network over its code-share partners like Thai Airways International, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Air Berlin, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air France and Malaysia Airlines.
Bangkok Airways has linked passengers in and around Thailand, taking them to world's heritage sites and vibrant beach destinations. Varavarn added, 'As a full-service regional airlines, we always focus on every service such as customer's touch points from reservation, check-in, onboard service to until they land at their destinations.'
'What makes us stand out from other airlines is our boutique service where we offer additional services including lounge for all cabin classes at Samui Airport offering snacks, hot and cold drinks, free internet and kids corner. Appetising in-flight meals are served on all of our flights and the airline serves destinations to its own boutique airports in Koh Samui, Sukhothai and Trat.'
Bangkok Airways currently flies eight domestic routes in Thailand (Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Lampang, Trat, Pattaya (U-tapao), Phuket, Krabi and Samui. It also flies to 11 routes outside Thailand; Hong Kong, Luang Prabang, Singapore, Phnom Penh, Yangon, Siem Reap, Maldives, Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, Dhaka, and Bengaluru.
Bangkok Airways currently has 19 aircraft and is adding two Airbus 320s bound to arrive later this year.
