British Airways may have a single route to Thailand from its hub in London but it's possible for its customers to frolic in the famous beaches of Phuket and Koh Samui without them making a separate booking. How is that possible?

Yes, it's possible through codeshare agreement done recently between Bangkok Airways and British Airways.

The agreement will enable travelers on British Airways on its direct London-Bangkok route to extend their trip to any destinations in Thailand where Bangkok Airways fly to.

From June this year and onwards, passengers who wish to spend their holiday in Thailand's popular resorts may now be able to book through British Airways website in a single transaction.

Bangkok Airways has an extensive domestic route network which offers convenient access for travelers wishing to go beyond Bangkok.

British Airways serves Bangkok with a single daily service from its base in Heathrow's Terminal 3. Though it will soon move its base to Terminal 5 in October this year.

According to Bangkok Airways' Senior Vice President for Network Management, Peter Wiesner, the partnership with BA will provide long-haul travelers from Europe easy access to Thailand's tourist hotspots. BA passengers on a London-Bangkok route can extend their trip to popular destinations in Thailand such as Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Pattaya and Phuket.

Those who are on a London-Singapore route, meanwhile, can get access to Koh Samui with just a single booking via ba.com as well. British Airways flies to Singapore twice daily.

Mr. Wiesner further added that the agreement would cement the two airline's partnership offering unique advantage for BA customers who wish to enjoy Thailand's exotic and renowned destinations. It will also further boost the tourism industry in Thailand which is already the top tourist destination in the region.

Bangkok Airways started as Sahakol Air when it was founded in 1968. Today, it has grown to become one of the major domestic carriers in Thailand, serving 23 destinations across its network. It has a current fleet of 23 aircraft, 15 Airbus jets and 8 turboprops.
