An orderly queue at the check-in hall in the airport turned into an ugly scene when a Chinese-looking woman cut, infuriating other passengers including the local resident, a Thai woman, who was not obviously amused at the sight.
Shouting invectives ensued until it went physical with the two women trading blows. Before any of them could inflict serious injury to each other, a group of male passengers moved in to stop the ruckus.
Before the brief catfight could be stopped, some fellow passengers were able to snap a few photos and took videos of the fracas and posted them on social media.
Witnesses said that the female passenger, later identified as a Chinese national, suddenly cut in the line at the check-in counter for low-cost carrier, Thai Lion Air, without explaining politely her side as to the reason of her action.
The Thai woman, who was not amused at the foreigner's conduct, approached the latter and they began shouting at each other until catfight ensued.
In recent years, there have been several incidents involving Chinese tourists behaving badly. This recent incident at Don Mueang Airport on Friday was just one of them.
Last month, a Chinese couple, on board a Thai airline (Thai AirAsia) bound for Nanjing, China, made headlines when their flight turned back to Bangkok for their unsavory behavior. The female passenger threw a cup of hot water to the flight attendant after she was refused to be seated next to her boyfriend. Shocked fellow flight attendants and some passengers came to the rescue and accosted the erring passenger. The boyfriend of the assailant sprang out of his seat and came to her rescue and threatened to bomb the aircraft.
Though he might have just said it out of anger, it was considered a serious threat based on Thai aviation law as in many other aviation laws around the world.
The airport police removed the couple from the plane as soon as it landed and brought to the station for interrogation and possibly to face criminal charges.
A few days after that, a Chinese mother figured in a fight with two fellow female passengers aboard a local Chinese flight after they complained of her baby's tantrums.
