Thai Airways to Reduce Fares for Thailand Flights

Thai Airways has announced a reduction in its Thailand domestic airfares from March 15 until 30th September 2011, by 13% to 16%.

Reductions of up to 30% will be in place and Royal Orchid members will be able to apply for double mileage points for their frequent flier bonus.

According to Executive Vice-President of Commercial Department Pandit Chanapai, the decision was made in order to in order to increase market share by 10-15 percentage points: "We are confident that the traffic will absolutely rise. When our market share reaches 50%, we'll make profit from the domestic flights".

Currently Thai Airways currently has a market share of around 35% - 40% for local routes. Over recent years this has dropped significantly due to the successes seen with local low cost carriers.

Meanwhile Thai have announced a new international schedule from Bangkok to Dubai, offering even greater connectivity and destinations served from the Middle East with its summer timetable now in effect.

With this new schedule, Thai now offers the quickest flying time to Manila from the Middle East - the fastest way home for expatriates from the Philippines.
