With increased competition from low cost airlines, Air Asia, Nok Air and 1-2-Go, Thai Air has announced it will decrease its domestic airfares in the future.

A 'Smile Thailand Fascinating Destinations' promotion has seen the carrier shorten the gap between their rivals, from now until March 2011.

The discounts, which apply on 10 internal routes, can be had by booking at least 30 days in advance. The one-way fare between Phuket and Bangkok is as low as B2,425. The return fare is double that: B4,850.

The offer applies to the following routes: Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Surat Thani, Krabi and Haad Yai; and Chiang Mai to Phuket.

Flights on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are excluded.

Meanwhile, Bangkok Air announced the addition of one flight per day each way between Phuket and Bangkok and is offering tickets at B3,910, round-trip.

You can check for the latest fares both domestic and international on the 'Cheap Flight Search' form on this site.
