Seoul is the capital and largest city of the Republic of South Korea. It is one of the major and cosmopolitan capitals in Asia and is home to some of the grandest and oldest religious landmarks, modern architectural wonders, and diverse cultural attractions.

The first of the long-haul routes will be a once-daily service utilizing a wide-body A330-300 aircraft that can seat up to 377 passengers in a two-class configuration, 12 of which are business class seats.

Thai AirAsia X is the first overseas subsidiary of its long-haul brand based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Both airlines operate from Don Mueang International Airport, which is designated as the low-cost carriers hub.

According to its CEO, Nadda Buranasiri, the historic event will go down in the country's aviation history as the first Thailand-based low-cost long-haul carrier to ever take off the skies.

Thai AirAsia X becomes the 6th overseas subsidiary and the 8th member of the growing AirAsia family. Other subsidiaries include Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia, Philippines AirAsia, AirAsia Zest, AirAsia India. The two original units, AirAsia and the long-haul AirAsia X, are both based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The newest addition to the family will strengthen AirAsia's dominant position as the largest budget airline operator in the Asian region. It aims to connect more destinations across the region providing opportunity to people to travel at a lowest cost possible.

Aside from Seoul, the long-haul low-cost carrier is also planning to launch next month two new routes from Bangkok to Osaka and Tokyo in Japan.
