Thai AirAsia forged a deal with Bangkok Aviation Center (BAC) where the latter will be training would-be pilots with the end in view of supplying the airline with qualified, licensed pilots every year.

Both parties recently signed the contract which also indicates that BAC will be responsible for supplying Thai AirAsia with some 70 licensed pilots every year.

The airline projects that orders of 5 brand-new Airbus A320s will be delivered to the airline every year. This expansion would necessitate a boost in manpower, commercial pilots most especially.

Thai AirAsia's team up with BAC isn't a first-time endeavour. Past similar deals has led to the successful completion of BAC's pilot training course by around 180 Thai AirAsia commercial pilots.

According to the airline's Chief Executive Officer, Tassapon Bijleveld, Thai AirAsia's aircrafts are manned by some 450 pilots, 46 per cent of which are captains.

For Thai AirAsia, BAC has been a consistent, reliable source of licensed commercial pilots. Reportedly, more than a third of its pilots are graduates of the said aviation center.

On the other hand, Thai AirAsia is BAC's top client.

BAC is the pioneering private pilot training school in Thailand and has been training aspiring pilots for about 13 years now. Every year, about 180 new pilots graduate from the center.

As an aviation center accredited by the country's Ministry of Education and Civil Aviation Department (CAD), it abides by the policies and curriculum set by CAD.

Part of the pilot training course involves pilots' visits to different airports, radio towers, and completion of minimum 20-hour flight using an A320 flight simulator.
