According to a news source from Government House, the Cabinet approved an extension of the tourist stimulus programme "Rao Tiew Duay Kan" (We Travel Together) on Tuesday, adding 1.5 million rights and extending the deadline from May 31 to September 30.
Eligible registrants can get a 40% discount on hotel rooms and restaurants under Rao Tiew Duay Kan, up to THB3,000 per night. When they check into a hotel, they will also receive an e-voucher, as well as a 40% flight refund when they check out.
The subsidy was limited to a total of 2 million hotel nights and 600,000 plane tickets. According to the source, all 2 million rights have been used since April, forcing the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to suggest that phase 4 be extended.
"This will not be a new phase," it claimed, "as the ministry will fund the extension with leftover budget from the previous phase of around THB4 billion."
The ministry expects to announce the extension's registration period as soon as Krungthai Bank, which manages the Pao Tang application, completes its personal identification system optimization in accordance with the new Personal Data Protection Act.
