Khon Kaen Airport is a domestic airport located in the province of Khon Kaen, Thailand. It is just five kilometers or 15 minutes away from the city center.

Khon Kaen Airport is served by airlines Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, Thai AirAsia, and Thai Smile.
Khon Kaen Airport continues to draw a large number of passengers. Since 2013, it has seen a yearly growth rate of 20 percent, and has handled at least two million passengers in 2017.
With the passenger volume, the Department of Airports announced a two-billion-baht investment to upgrade and expand Khon Kaen Airport for two years. The upgrade includes expanding the existing terminal, building a second terminal, and extending the car park building.
Upon completion, Khon Kaen Airport is expected to accommodate up to five million passengers per year.
Passengers have three options in transporting from and to the airport: by bus, taxi, or the airport limousine.
Taking the airport bus service is the cheapest option in transferring from the airport to the city center. A single trip only costs 15 baht while a three-day bus card is being sold for 99 baht. The three-day pass could also be used on city buses.
City buses operate from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and tickets can be availed at Khon Kaen Airport.
Taxi cabs are located outside the airport’s arrival hall. Instead of relying on the meter, taxi drivers usually ask for a flat rate of 200 baht from the airport to the city center.
For travelers taking this option, it is advisable that pre-bookings be made to guarantee your trip.
An airport limousine service is on offer for 50 baht that will take you to whichever hotel you will stay at in Khon Kaen City. Before claiming your baggage, purchase your ticket at the ticketing booth.
You may also avail of a return trip from your hotel to the airport for 150 baht. You will be picked up from most hotels and resorts in the city.
Hotels such as Charoen Thani Princess Hotel, Kosa Hotel and Hotel Sofitel also offer limousine services to the airport.
Khon Kaen Airport is equipped with several facilities such as a money exchange booth, retail outlets, left-luggage booths, lounges for Thai Airways Executive Class members, a car rental booth, as well as a small number of dining areas on the second and third floors.
A car park is also available within the airport with the first 15 minutes offered free, and an hourly rate of 15 baht can be charged thereafter. You may spend up to 180 baht for a 12-hour parking.
