Qantas Airways announced a new agreement with Bangkok Airways that would enable its frequent fliers to book classic flight reward tickets to over 20 destinations in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
Bangkok Airways joins the Qantas Frequent Flyer programme with 45 other partner airlines, allowing members to spend their points to travel to over 1,200 locations worldwide.
From Australia, passengers may reach Bangkok Airways flights through Bangkok, Phuket, and Singapore. Each week, Qantas runs over 50 round-trip flights between Australia and these popular locations.
Bangkok Airways has flights every day from the capital of the kingdom to some of the most popular places in Thailand and Cambodia, like Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, and Siem Reap.
The arrangement extends from a 2014 codeshare deal that allowed Qantas customers to reserve commercial seats on Bangkok Airways flights.
Olivia Wirth, CEO of Qantas Loyalty, said that Qantas Frequent Flyer was happy to have Bangkok Airways join the program: "We want our members to be able to redeem their Qantas points for reward tickets to as many places as possible, and our network of partner airlines allows them to pick from hundreds of destinations across the world."
"Thailand is one of our frequent flyers' most popular destinations, and this partnership will make it easier for them to explore more of the region using their points."
"The ability to book reward seats on Bangkok Airways' large network in Thailand and Southeast Asia will also open up tens of thousands of new ways to redeem,"
"On Qantas, Jetstar, and our partner airlines, there are millions of reward seats available for booking now on domestic and international routes for the coming year."
The partnership with Bangkok Airways follows recent initiatives from Qantas Frequent Flyer to expand opportunities for travellers to use their points on flights, including the addition of 100,000 classic flight reward seats between Australia and Japan and the extension of Qantas' commitment to 50% more reward seats until June 2023.
Qantas Frequent Flyers can now use their points to stay in hotels in Thailand. They can do this through Qantas Hotels.
